Nathan Houdek, former aide to Rep. Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse), has joined the staff of the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans as Director of Legislation & Advocacy. 

Mr. Houdek developed his policy analysis skills and understanding of the state legislative process while serving as an aide to several state legislators beginning in 2003.  Since January 2009,
Mr. Houdek served as Budget and Policy Analyst for Rep. Shilling, a member of the State Budget-writing Joint Committee on Finance and the Assembly Health Committee.  In this most recent role, Mr. Houdek helped Finance Committee members and Assembly leaders complete the 2009-2011 State Budget before the end of the 2008-2009 fiscal year. 

"Nathan's recent budget and public policy experience will make him an asset to our team," said Nancy Wenzel, CEO of the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans.  "Wisconsin health plans are fortunate to have someone with Nathan's background and skills representing their interests."

As a member of the Association staff, Mr. Houdek will work with Association-member health plans to analyze public policy proposals and present the perspective of Wisconsin's health plan industry to state policymakers.  Mr. Houdek will also help strengthen the Association's grassroots advocacy capabilities. 

Mr. Houdek is a native of Phillips, Wisconsin.
